ANIMAL ANTICS VETERINARY CLINIC TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF BUSINESS
Thank you for entrusting the care and attention of your pet to Animal Antics Veterinary Clinic.
This letter details our Practice Terms and Conditions.
We at Animal Antics veterinary Clinic try to keep our fees as reasonable and realistic as possible. We require that payment is made at the time of treatment and we accept either Cash or Credit Card, at the end of the consultation, the discharge of your pet or upon collection of medication/food.
All consultation, consumables, surgical fees, food and drug charges are subject to VAT at the current rate. Our fees are determined according to Practice overheads and facilities, by the time spent on a case and according to the drugs, materials, consumables and foods used.
We are not an authorised financial services provider and can therefore not offer credit.
If, for any reason, you are unable to settle your account as specified, we ask you to discuss the matter as soon as possible with the Practice Principal.
Should an account not be settled within 14 days then a reminder would be sent with an additional accounting fee in respect of administrative costs incurred. Should it be necessary for further reminders to be sent, further charges will be incurred. These, however, may be waived if payment is made promptly. After due notice, to you the client, overdue accounts will be referred to our Debt Collection Agency and further charges will be levied in respect if costs incurred in collecting the debt, such as production of reports, correspondence, court fees, attendance at court, phone calls, home visits, etc. will result in interest being added on the principal sum.
Dispensing medicine by Veterinarians is governed by the Medicines Control Council which laid down the law of dispensing medicine in the Medicines and Related Substances Control Act 101 of 1965, amended by the Medicines and Related Substances Control Amendment Act 90 of 1997.
A Veterinarian is a person registered as such under the Veterinary and Para-Veterinary Professions Act, 1982 (Act No. 19 of 1982)
The Act says that your Veterinary Surgeon may prescribe medication only for animals under his care. Medicine may only be prescribed after an examination to determine what medication, and in what dose is necessary. The maximum number of repeats on a script is for a time period of 6 (six) months, after which a re-assessment is required. This may reduce with the condition being prescribed for and the individual circumstances.
Further information on the prices of medicines is available on request and you can be informed on request of the price of any medication that may be prescribed for your animal. Prescriptions are available from this practice and you may obtain prescription only medicines from your Veterinary Surgeons or ask for a prescription and obtain these medicines from another Veterinary Surgeon or pharmacy. A prescription may not be necessary if your animal is an inpatient or immediate treatment is required.
